First Session - August 21 through August 24, 2005


Marlene Eagan

For the first session, Marlene will be teaching a complex composition of Apples on a pillow vase where the emphasis will be on designing a three dimensional piece, creating dimensionality in the composition

Celee Evans

For the first session, Celee will be teaching Agate Etching, featuring Blackberries, on a covered rectangular box.  Students will choose from a simple composition with modest gold to more extravagant clusters with detailed agate-etched gold & scrolling.  The emphasis will be on designing a box and using penwork to create a pattern for the etching.

Susan Greathouse

Susan will be teaching flowers on a glass cylinder lamp.  Hydrangeas will be the first session.  The emphasis will be on glass techniques and composition in the round.

Camille Mueller

Camille Mueller will be teaching Animals on a tile, using family pets in the first session.  (Start working on that great photo of Rover or Fluffy.)

Andrew Orr

Andrew Orr will be teaching a vivid Delphinium composition on a 10" x 12" tile the first session.  Andrew stresses the importance of original thought and continual study of nature, grounded in art fundamentals.

Birgit Porter

Birgit Porter will be teaching the Dresden Style on an 8" plate, using monochrome Tulips with gold decorations.  The first session will use pink.  Emphasis will be on the correct brush strokes for painting in this elegant style using the traditional closed European medium.  Beginners & Intermediate painters are welcome to both sessions.  (TURPENTINE will be used.)

Michael Sullivan

Michael Sullivan will be teaching luster techniques with choice of birds (gold finch, hummingbird or bluebird) on a pillow vase the first session.  Many suggestions for the use of lusters will be demonstrated in both class sessions, and beginners are welcome in both sessions.  (ACETONE and LUSTER ESSENCE will be used.)

Mariela Villasmil

Mariela Villasmil will be teaching portraits on a tile.  For the first session, she invites students to bring a family photo (or you may use one of her studies).  A variety of techniques useful in portraiture will be emphasized.

Paula White

Paula White will teach an introduction to Landscape class the first session, presenting fundamentals of composition and balance.

Lerene Woodward

Lerene Woodward will be teaching a more stylized scene painting with a Lighthouse on a covered box for the first session.  The emphasis will be on painting architectural elements in a countryside and various decorative techniques to enhance the composition.
