Christmas Cards

by Penny Nangle

Some beautiful designs by Penny to inspire you to use your china paints on paper to make handmade Christmas cards for those special to you!

My Christmas Card to all of you .... Marci suggested a while back that we could use Pen Oil that would work like a one fire medium. That mixture has worked quite well, and I have had a lot of fun experimenting..
I decided to try the pen oil as a painting medium and china paint some Christmas Cards this year on water color paper. I was pleasantly surprised with the results, and it was fun..

Procedure for Painting Cards:

Sketch with a lead pencil your design if you wish first. Place the china paint colors you need on a separate tile. Use your pen oil medium as your painting medium. Mix paint and medium a bit thinner than normal to apply to the water color paper, as it will absorb the paint mixture fairly quick.
Paint your lightest color value on your card first. It will dry quite fast. Now you can apply the second and third values one on top of the other. Have fun experimenting...
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year so you can keep on Painting Painting Painting in 2001
