The Desert Scene was done in orange luster.Paint the tile with your favorite orange luster and fire. Recommended firing at 018-019.

Then we proceed to paint a scene on the luster tile.

Start at the top for the sky with your purple. Load a big brush ( like a 3/4 inch one) with a heavy load. Paint the sky on a slant, as you don't want to go straight across. Then pick up some ruby and continue to paint downward, as in the horizon.

Clean your brush , then pick up some yellow and make some variations in the sky. Also put in a small section of white below the yellow to continue making variations in the sky.

Wipe back some of the paint to the orange luster and smooth with a mop brush to take out the harsh lines. It makes it looks like an evening scene.

You can put in a sun peeking through by wiping out a circle and then painting in some yellow.

Turn the tile upside-down and lay in some sand at the bottom of the tile, using brown with a little black. Apply lightly.

After laying the sand in, start on your cactus. You want it to be about two-thirds high on your tile.Create uneven limbs.Turn tile upside-down and with a liner, pull up anad paint in some stems, turn sideways to get the limbs in , making variations in height and don't make them side by side on the main limb.( stagger them) You can also add vertical lines on the cactus limbs.

Create uneven areas around your cactus base and sands. Add some bushes and also a few twiggy trees to fill your tile and not just have the cactus.

Fire at 018.
