HOLLY PLATE with Raised Leaves
by Linda Tiller

Here is a little plate that is a lot of fun to do. My class is having a wonderful time with this technique. We brought in pretty leaves, painted enamel or base for gold on the back and stamped on a border.

We fired that, then went over with opal luster. We liked the icy effect. Of course we painted our holly first... then did border last.

Betty G asked whether Linda put actual leaves with raised paste on the plate (assuming they would fire out in the kiln) or whether she used them to stamp the design. Linda replied: "We used the leaves as stamps after brushing the enamel on the back of them."

Note from marci: (re: picture on the left) This is the same plate....I darkened it digitally so that it was a little easier to see the base for gold leaf stampings on the plate.
